No sooner do I attempt to re-start my blog, but my life goes completely insane and stays that way for more than a month. Fortunately, things are finally starting to unwind.
Since last time I posted, I’ve moved from Kenwood down to South Shore…
Took the train to Omaha for a wedding…
Started working full-time for the University of Chicago Alumni Association (for which I also built an awesome website, but more on that later)…
Took the train down to Memphis to see my family…
Gone to another good friend’s wedding at Bond Chapel…
Seen a couple of good concerts, including Grizzly Bear at Metro…
And taken a whole lot of crappy iPhone photos, because my real camera is broken and has been sitting idly in Nikon’s repair shop waiting for a backordered part for well over two weeks and counting…
The hope here is that sometime in the near future, I’ll be in better control of my life again. Not that I have much of anything to complain about, but I’d like to catch my breath!

Congrats on the job and the move!
Nerd note: The UCPIP home page doesn’t display properly in Camino (version 1.6.10), which I’m running on Mac OS 10.6.1 (a.k.a. Snow Leopard). The text and links that should be below the three pictures piles up on the pictures so I can’t see the pictures or read the text.
Thanks Joan! I have seen that problem in outdated versions of Firefox (like 2.0.0.9 running on my work computer – thanks, tech people!). Hadn’t seen it on Camino, though. I am sure it’s the same problem, so hopefully I’ll be able to find a solution. Unfortunately, we had to prioritize making sure it looked decent in IE 6 and above, which probably ended up breaking it in other, better browsers.
I didn’t like it at first, but that Grizzly Bear song “Knife” has been growing on me.
Ditto. Although I can’t hear it without thinking, at least in passing, about the dance remix of it by Girl Talk. I like several of the other songs on their newest album quite a bit too, especially “While You Wait for the Others”.
Sorry to hear about the camera, did something happen to it, or did this happen out of the blue?
Since it’s out of warranty anyway, I can safely say that it got dropped. Not very badly, but badly enough apparently. Still in parts hold as of this evening.
